David W. Bergquist

Mr. David W. Bergquist grew up in the small town of Moorhead, Minnesota, where he first learned that hard work and integrity are key components to success personally and professionally. After graduation from Moorhead High School in 1994, Mr. Bergquist attended college at the University of North Dakota where he graduated with a degree in the Bachelor of Arts in 1999.

Upon graduation, Mr. Bergquist moved to Houston, Texas to start his career with the accounting giant, Arthur Anderson. With a couple of years of corporate experience under his belt, he enrolled in law school at Texas Southern University.

Mr. Bergquist graduated magna cum laude from Texas Southern University in 2003. He worked for two litigation firms during and subsequent to graduation. His work at those firms eventually led to Mr. Bergquist’s founding of the Bergquist Law Firm.

Throughout his time as an attorney and at his law firm, Mr. Bergquist has been an aggressive trial lawyer. His law practice focuses on litigation matters, including plaintiff’s accident and personal injury, civil and business litigation, and medical field and healthcare litigation.

Mr. Bergquist has successfully litigated personal injury cases involving surgeries, permanent disfigurement, and death. He fights for the highest monetary recovery for victims and their families.

Karl R. Schneider

Karl R. Schneider was born in Florida and grew up in Houston. Mr. Schneider received Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and managerial studies from Rice University and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston. Licensed in 1993, Mr. Schneider worked for 12 years at a private firm defending individuals and corporations in civil litigation. In 2005, he moved to The Hartford Insurance Company and became the managing attorney for the company’s staff legal offices in Texas. As managing attorney, Mr. Schneider was responsible for overseeing attorneys and support staff state wide while maintaining an active docket of cases. Mr. Schneider has extensive experience litigating civil and business matters, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, workplace accidents, products cases, DTPA, fraud and property damage cases. He has tried over 50 cases to verdict.

In his spare time, Mr. Schneider joins spending time with his wife, three children, flag football, reading and weight lifting.

Gloria J. Villatoro

Gloria J. Villatoro was born in Houston and grew up in Pasadena, Texas. Ms. Villatoro received her Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Houston and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. After becoming licensed in 2008, Ms. Villatoro gained valuable litigation experience handling cases in the areas of family, probate, bankruptcy, and criminal law. Nicholas M. Wills

Nicholas M. Wills grew up in Houston, Texas, and attended Bellaire High School. Mr. Wills received his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia where he was a member of the baseball team. After college, Mr. Wills moved back to Houston where he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2013 from South Texas College of Law.

Prior to joining the Bergquist Law Firm, Mr. Wills gained valuable legal experience working for various personal injury firms as well as the City of Houston Legal Department. In addition, Mr. Wills has researched and written hundreds of articles related to mass torts in pharmaceutical liability, automobile accidents, and other crucial areas pertaining to personal injury.

Mr. Wills is an accomplished pianist who enjoys creating music as well as volunteering and playing sports.

Yanet M. Benitez

Yanet M. Benitez was born and raised in Houston, Texas.  Ms. Benitez graduated cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.  After graduation, Ms. Benitez returned to her hometown to attend the University of Houston Law Center. During law school, Ms. Benitez actively participated in the Interscholastic Mock Trial Team, the Hispanic Law Students Association and was the Case Notes and Comments Editor of the Houston Journal of International Law.  In May 2014, Ms. Benitez received her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, graduating cum laude.  

Prior to joining Bergquist Law Firm, Ms. Benitez worked as a law clerk at a Plaintiffs law firm and interned in the 165th Harris County Civil District Court, where she gained valuable experience in personal injury and civil litigation.  Ms. Benitez is published in the Houston Journal of International Law for her comparison of educational rights in El Salvador, Japan, and the United States.

Moises Morales

Moises grew up in rural west Texas and attended Fort Hancock High School. Mr. Morales attended Sul Ross State University to play basketball and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. After college, Mr. Morales worked as the chief of staff for a local district attorney. Two years later, Moises moved to Austin, where he worked for a state representative during the 82nd Legislative Session at the Texas Capitol. 

After this legislative experience, Mr. Morales moved to Houston, Texas to attend law school. He graduated in May 2015 from the University of Houston Law Center with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. During his law school career, Mr. Morales actively participated in the Hispanic Law Students Association and was the Chief Notes and Comments Editor of the Houston Business & Tax Journal.

Betty Feng

Betty Feng grew up in Sugar Land, Texas and attended Kempner High School. Ms. Feng attended the University of Houston and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After graduation Ms. Feng returned to the University of Houston to attend law school. During her law school career, Ms. Feng served as the President of the Asian Law Students Association. Ms. Feng worked as a student attorney in the University of Houston Law Center’s Consumer Law Clinic where she handled a variety civil matters for clients. Ms. Feng also worked at the Dispute Resolution Center where she helped educate members of the community on their legal rights. In May 2015 Ms. Feng graduated from the University of Houston with a Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Prior to joining the Bergquist Law Firm, Ms. Feng gained valuable legal experience working at a personal injury law firm that focused on personal injury cases related to pharmaceuticals and medical devices nationwide. Ms. Feng also worked as a law clerk in a nonprofit legal aid office providing legal assistance to those in need.

Ms. Feng joined the Bergquist Law Firm in 2015. In her spare time, Ms. Feng enjoys kayaking and spending time with her dog Bebe.

Elco R. Zubiate, Jr.

Elco R. Zubiate, Jr. was born in Midland, Texas and grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas. Mr. Zubiate received his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Houston in 2011 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2015.

Prior to joining the Bergquist Law Firm, Mr. Zubiate worked as a student attorney at the St. Mary’s Civil Justice Clinic where he gained valuable legal experience in the areas of consumer law and family law. He also worked as a law clerk in a small wills and estate planning firm in San Antonio, Texas. Sarah E. Schuller

Sarah E. Schuller grew up in Plano, Texas and attended Plano Senior High School. Ms. Schuller graduated magna cum laude from the Honors College at Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Honors Arts and Letters. Ms. Schuller remained in Lubbock to attend Texas Tech School of Law where she graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in May of 2015. During her law school career, Ms. Schuller made the Dean’s Honor List, worked in the Low Income Tax Clinic, and received a top oralist award in Texas Tech’s advocacy program.

Prior to joining the Bergquist Law Firm, Ms. Schuller gained valuable legal experience while working for an insurance defense and personal injury firm in Lubbock, Texas. She also became a trained mediator with the Office of Dispute Resolution, helping to resolve over 25 disagreements. Additionally, Ms. Schuller spent time volunteering with the Innocence Project of Texas. There, she focused on overturning convictions under Senate Bill 344 which expanded habeas corpus relief for people falsely convicted based on junk science.

Ms. Schuller joined the Bergquist Law Firm in January of 2016, where she currently focuses her practice on representing plaintiffs in personal injury cases. In her free time, Ms. Schuller enjoys spending time with her family, following Texas Tech Football, and throwing the Frisbee to her lab/border collie mix puppy.

Keith N. Bakker

Keith N. Bakker grew up in Katy, Texas, and attended Cinco Ranch High School. Mr. Bakker received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Energy Commerce from Texas Tech University. During college, he was a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and studied abroad in England, France, and Germany. After college, Mr. Bakker clerked at a general practice law office. He also had the opportunity of aiding in the campaign and election efforts of the current 83rd District Attorney.

Mr. Bakker graduated with his Doctor of Jurisprudence in May 2015 from Texas Tech School of Law. During law school, Mr. Bakker interned at the 83rd District Attorney’s Office and performed legal and title work for an energy company. Evette Hooper

Evette Hooper was raised in East Houston where she attended North Shore High School. Upon graduating in 2008, she attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas where she received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology. While at A&M, Ms. Hooper was a member of the Order of Omega Honors Society.

After graduating from A&M in 2012, Ms. Hooper attended law school at Texas Tech School of Law in Lubbock, Texas. While attending Texas Tech Law, Ms. Hooper was a student attorney at the Caprock Public Defenders Office where she represented indigent defendants charged with various felony and misdemeanor crimes in 6 different counties surrounding Lubbock. Ms. Hooper was also an intern at Zuniga Law Offices P.C. in Houston, Texas during the summer and winter breaks from law school. There, she assisted attorneys in misdemeanor, felony, federal, and juvenile criminal cases. Ms. Hooper has participated in trials ranging from misdemeanor possession of marijuana charges to murder trials.

In 2015 after graduating from Texas Tech School of Law, Ms. Hooper returned to Houston to practice law in her home town. Viet Q. Nguyen

Viet Nguyen is a proud native Houstonian. Graduating from Hightower High School, he attended the University of Houston where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. Mr. Nguyen earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 2016. While a law student, Mr. Nguyen clerked with a prominent Houston defense firm, the Staff Attorneys at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, the Harris County District Attorney's Office, and two plaintiff's personal injury firms. In his time at the University Law Center, Mr. Nguyen was a member of the Public Interest Law Organization and the Asian Law Students Association.

He is devoted to serving and educating the community in any way he can. He spent his last semester of law school teaching high school students about being a lawyer in Street Law. Mr. Nguyen has also taught at a local Vietnamese school since the age of 13. In his spare time, Mr. Nguyen enjoys cooking, trivia, and practicing the piano.

Jovani Diaz

Jovani Diaz was born and grew up in Houston, Texas. Ms. Diaz received her Bachelor of Science in both Political Science and Psychology from Houston Baptist University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She then attended South Texas College of Law and received her Doctor of Jurisprudence. While attending school, Ms. Diaz worked full time and gained experienced in the legal career as a law clerk in a number of law firms. Lina Al-Salim

Lina Al Salim was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science in both Political Science and Psychology from University of Houston. During her undergraduate career, Ms. Al Salim made the dean’s list several times and had the opportunity to intern for a Texas State Representative. In May of 2016, Ms. Al Salim received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law. She also had the opportunity to study abroad in Prague, Czech Republic where she took courses in international law. Terry McGovern

Mr. Terry McGovern was born in San Antonio, Texas. At a young age, Mr. McGovern moved to Mexico, where he was raised. While growing up in Mexico, Mr. McGovern learned Spanish and most importantly the Hispanic culture.

After graduating from high school, Mr. McGovern moved back to his native town, San Antonio, where he attended college at the University of Texas at San Antonio and received his degree in Bachelor of Arts. During his undergraduate career, Mr. McGovern worked at the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office and for Texas Senator Leticia Van de Putte. Among his undergraduate academic achievements, Mr. McGovern, graduated with honors and received a certificate in legal reasoning.

Thereafter, Mr. McGovern moved to Houston, Texas to attend law school at Houston College of Law, formerly known as South Texas College of Law. Among his numerous achievements in law school, Mr. McGovern graduated in the top third of his class, became a varsity advocate, a member of the South Texas law review, and an officer for the Board of Advocates.

Throughout his time in law school, Mr. McGovern was eager to both apply and enhance his lawyering skills. As part of this process, Mr. McGovern interned at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the First Court of Appeals of Texas, and several litigation firms, including the Bergquist Law Firm during the summer of 2015. Mr. McGovern was inspired by his supervising attorney, Gloria Villatoro, so much that he decided to begin his legal career at the Bergquist Law Firm.

Among his interests, Mr. McGovern enjoys mountain biking, wakeboarding, and spending time with his family.

Collin D. Greene

Collin Greene grew up in rural Northern California. Mr. Greene graduated with Honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He moved to the Houston area soon after and began working in the litigation support industry. Mr. Greene then attended the University of Houston Law Center, where he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in May 2016. During his law school career, he served as the Head Senior Articles Editor of the Houston Business & Tax Law Journal and as a Student Attorney in the Law Center's Civil Practice Clinic.

Hugo R. Montes

Hugo R. Montes was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and raised in Houston, Texas. After graduating from Splendora High School in 2008, Mr. Montes attended Texas A&M University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2013.

Upon graduating from Texas A&M, Mr. Montes attended South Texas College of Law, Houston, where he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence in May of 2016. Among his numerous academic achievements in law school, Mr. Montes received a CALI award for excellence in Contract Drafting and Negotiation, made the dean’s list, and qualified for the Pro Bono Honors Program Certification for his extensive public service. Furthermore, understanding that academia was only half the battle in his pursuit of becoming a litigating attorney, Mr. Montes refined his advocacy skills as a recognized member of the varsity alternative dispute resolution team, receiving his mediator certification, and winning the Garland Walker Mock Trial Intramural Championship and Best Advocate awards in 2014.

Prior to joining Bergquist Law Firm, Mr. Montes gained valuable legal experience working as a law clerk at a boutique personal injury litigation firm and as an intern with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. Through his experiences, Mr. Montes was able to refine his knowledge of personal injury practice, solidify his legal research and writing skills, and gain the practical skills necessary to effectively represent his clients.

Mariana Ortegón

Mariana Ortegón was born in Laredo, Texas and grew up in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English and International Relations from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, from where she graduated in 2012. Prior to attending law school, she worked at a litigation firm in Houston specializing in personal injury.

Ms. Ortegón graduated from The University of Texas School Law in May 2016. While at UT, she took part in the Law School’s Clinical Education Program, representing clients in the school’s Human Rights Clinic. As a member of the Clinic, Ms. Ortegón presented her client’s case before members of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in D.C. She also served as an Articles and Notes Editor for the Texas International Law Journal, and interned for the Honorable Guillermo R. Garcia, Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Texas, and the Travis County Attorney’s Office.

After graduating high school, Mr. Daws spent the next two years of his life serving as a missionary for his church in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he learned Spanish and developed a stronger desire to serve others.

Mr. Daws received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management and a minor in Spanish from Lamar University. He then attended Texas Tech School of Law where he received his Doctor of Jurisprudence. While attending school, Mr. Daws gained experience in personal injury and other areas of civil litigation as a law clerk.

During his free time, Mr. Daws enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys, as well as serving in his church.

Amanda Catalani

Amanda L. Catalani was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. After graduating from TMI High School in the Hill Country, she attended Duke University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Ethics, and Markets & Management with honors.

Upon graduating from Duke University, Ms. Catalani worked as an AmeriCorps Vista for a rebuilding organization in New Orleans, LA, before beginning her career as a Consultant in Boston, MA, and Washington, D.C.

Ms. Catalani moved to Houston, Texas to be closer to her family and attended the University of Houston Law Center, where she received her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2016. During her law school career, she gained valuable experience clerking for a judge and working for a civil litigation firm.

In her spare time, Ms. Catalani enjoys running, spending time with her dog, and traveling.

Jordan R. Corn

Jordan R. Corn grew up in the small town of Florence, Texas just north of Austin. Mr. Corn graduated from Texas Tech University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a “Criminology Concentration” and a minor in Legal Studies.

Mr. Corn graduated with his Doctor of Jurisprudence in May 2016 from South Texas College of Law. While in law school, Mr. Corn clerked for a family law firm here in Houston. Mr. Corn was also a member of the Board of Advocates and participated in mock trial during his time at South Texas.

In his spare time, Mr. Corn enjoys spending time with his friends and family, throwing movie quotes into everyday conversations, and rooting for his Red Raiders and the five-time champion San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys.

Scott A. Seelhoff

Scott A. Seelhoff was born in Plymouth, Michigan. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in History from Michigan State University in 1986, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence (Cum Laude) form Thomas A. Cooley School of Law in 1989. Mr. Seelhoff received his license to practice law in South Carolina in 1989. He worked for 13 years as a partner in a private firm defending individuals, corporations and governmental entities in civil litigation. Mr. Seelhoff received his Texas License in 2002, and worked as staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Company before becoming the managing attorney for Affirmative Insurance Services in 2006.

Mr. Seelhoff served as Senior Staff Counsel for The Hartford Insurance company from 2009-2015, and was Managing Attorney for the Hartford from 2015-2017, overseeing all aspects of civil litigation in Texas and Oklahoma while maintaining an active trial docket. Mr. Seelhoff has litigated cases involving civil matters across a wide range of subjects, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, workplace accidents, products liability, construction defect, DTPA, Fraud, and Civil RICO. Mr. Seelhoff has tried over 200 cases to verdict, and has appeared frequently in all State courts and successfully prosecuted appeals to the State Appellate Courts, and the Federal District Court of Appeals.

Mr. Seelhoff’s personal interests include horses, bicycling, reading and traveling.
